I took part in another game jam in November 2024 - the AdventureX 2024 game jam.
The theme was to have three rules.
I decided to use the same character from Giant Space Babies™, because I was still busy working on that at the time, and felt there was more to tell about Susie Onigiri and her adventures in space, in the future.
What came out after two weeks was a little game called Self Service, which is about what happens after Susie escapes from the clutches of her evil Intergalactic Overlord, Uton Sent.
Once I have finished creating animations for all of the events in that (any day now!) I plan to start developing the rest of the game, which will have a few more sections and already has a fairly clear, round story. Next up there - a playable demo (the next draft of Self Service) and an exciting trailer...
I am hoping that I will be able to use the opportunity of upcoming game jams to jam out each section of the game. It's a nice process, because there is typically a rule thrown in by the organiser, which adds an extra layer of unpredictability to the writing process.
